Here at Couch Adventures Photography, one of our main focuses is our Senior Experience package. Our unique approach to the senior portrait tradition is to involve the whole family in the process of highlighting their senior’s accomplishments. What better way to provide the best customer service and create a beautiful project that everyone will cherish for years!?
For Alexa, it was important to showcase her passion for dance and her bond with her sister and fellow dancer, Gabriella. The two were looking for a photographer to take professional pictures using inspiration from their Fall 2019 Nutcracker show. The girls’ mother, Anne Marie, was referred to me by her husband, who I met through a local networking group. The family and I had an initial phone consultation in February scheduling our session for March and securing the session fee. But, as you can guess, Covid19 interrupted, throwing all plans for a loop. This didn’t stop us from finding the best way to memorialize the girls’ work, though!
I followed up with Anne Marie in June and we rescheduled for early July, choosing to have the session at The Oak Atelier in The Woodlands, Texas. With its gorgeous spaces offering a range of backdrops, the Underwoods were more than happy to let this photographer display her love of showcasing local venues.
We talked again a week before the session, checking on everyone’s health and going over the new Covid19 requirements, before finally getting to the fun part- deciding which costumes to feature! Instead of meeting in person to develop the different looks and poses for the shoot, the girls and I played around with Zoom to choose our designs. Once I learned Alexa, who is beginning her final year of high school, owned numerous pairs of ballet shoes, I asked her to bring them and brainstormed the best way to show them off. Alexa’s beautiful smile shines through in the pic below featuring her and her shoes!
It was so fun to capture Alexa and Gabriella’s beauty and spirits that our two hour studio time seemed to fly by! After a few edits, the family and I met a week later for their design and ordering session. At this session we viewed a video of all the images and built the best photo package for their needs. I am thankful that the Underwoods and I were able to collaborate despite the challenges of pandemic life and I was honored to provide beautiful portraits for this Class of 2021 student, her sister, and family.
